The AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health Committee, interns, and volunteers have worked together to create this year’s Envio-Art project. This project is aimed toward youth in addressing environmental issues through artistic expression. It serves as a platform for young artists to express their perspectives and concerns on environmental challenges and solutions. We received submissions from kids ages 7-18 years old in the following categories: 2D & 3D art, poetry, and photography.

These art pieces were displayed at the Rancho Penasquitos library from June 5th to July 27th and at the H3SD Heat and Human Health Summit at the UCSD School of Medicine. The Rancho Peñasquitos library also hosted the reception celebrating the artists and Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair Green Ribbon winners. For each art entry, 10 trees were planted through the Eden Reforestation project.
Our Team:
Thank you to John Thurston for creating large-scale prints of each artists’ piece to display in our galleries, our physician and volunteer judges, gallery set-up volunteers, the H3SD planning committee, the Rancho Peñasquitos library staff, and San Diego Audubon. In addition, thank you to the physician and medical student groups who made similar Enviro-Art projects come to life in other states.
Wayne Mai is a pre-medical student and current Student Director of San Diego Pediatricians for Clean Air.
Dr. Vi Thuy Nguyen is Co-Chair of the AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health Committee.
Thank you to all the climate heroes who helped make this project a reality!
