Over the last year, AAP-CA3 Climate Change & Health Committee along with youth volunteers created the Youth Arts Exhibition event to promote creativity and climate awareness among San Diego’s children. The committee receive more than 100 submissions from kids ages 3-18 years old throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties in the following categories: poetry, photography, and 2-Dimensional art.

In April, the Climate Change & Health Committee will celebrate the efforts of the 2022 Youth Arts Exhibit at Studio Door in Hillcrest.

In the 2D Art category,

The volunteers who made this project a reality include: premed advocacy interns from Eco-America and the Climate Change and Health Committee, Ashley Teo – UCSD, Nicole Escamilla – UCLA, Hakim Tokhi – Chico State. Physician judges from the AAP-CA3: Drs. Rambod Amirnovin, Andrei Fodoreanu and Vi Thuy Nguyen; and UCSD School of Medicine student, Nikita Mittal.

In-kind donations from the following organizations for prizes include the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts, Children’s Museum of Escondido, and San Diego Audubon Society. Poetry expertise provided by Mrs. Tania Pryputniewicz. Additionally, each child who entered had 10 trees planted in their honor in the Chitwan National Forest in Nepal through in-kind donations from members of the Climate Change and Health Committee through Eden Reforestation Projects. Finally, a special thank you to the children of the council whose ideas drove this event.
